FUTURE OF MONEY

97% of all money in our contemporary economy is created as debt, when banks make loans. The work of Positive Money, a civil society group based in London, has been groundbreaking in bringing this basic truth to a new generation, and pushing on the debate about the role of banks in creating a mass indebtedness, and through that gaining an unprecedented financial, political power in our contemporary societies. Walthamstow doesn’t have a chapter of Positive Money however, so we have invited the Hackney group to come and present their ideas to an audience in Walthamstow and to discuss various solutions to the contemporary debt crisis we’re facing.
